HTML Widget

We are happy to announce that you can now add an HTML widget to your website.  This will allow you to add weather widgets and custom HTML to any page that you like.

You can add an HTML widget in the same way you add all other widgets.  Go to Website Appearance -> Widgets after logging in.  Then add an HTML Widget.

You can add any HTML into the widget that you like.  To add a weather widget, you can go to websites such as AccuWeather, Weather.com, WeatherBug, etc. to generate the HTML code for your widget.  The following weather widget is using AccuWeather.

If adding a widget with a defined width it is helpful to know the widths of the right and left bars on your website so it isn’t too wide:

  • home page right bar (when left bar not present) – 290 pixels
  • home page right bar (when left bar present) – 180 pixels
  • left bar on all pages – 180 pixels

As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us by submitting a support ticket or leaving a comment below.

Right widget area on home page no longer displays when empty

I’m surprised that this hadn’t come up before, but on your home page, even if you didn’t have any widgets defined the right grey area would still display.

We recently made a change so that if you don’t have any home page widgets the right grey area will no longer display and the main window of your home page gets wider as a result.

Thanks to Paul from the New Munich Silver Streaks for suggesting this.  If there are other features you would like to see added or if you have any suggestions or feedback, please leave a comment below or submit a support ticket.

All Widgets now Available for the Home Page Left Menu

If your team or league website has a left menu you can add any widget to the left menu on the home page.  The Sartell Area Youth Football Association was able to take advantage of the new functionality by adding Twitter, Facebook, and sponsor widgets to the left menu on their home page.

Go to Website Appearance -> Widgets after signing in and if you have a left menu on your website you will see a new section on the Widgets page and a Add Home Page Left Widget.  Clicking this link will allow you to add any widget to the left menu on the home page.

Widgets added to the left menu on the home page will appear below the menu.

Hopefully this helps make your website look even better.  If you have any feedback, leave a comment below or submit a support ticket.

Twitter Feed Widget now available!

We are happy to announce that there is a new Twitter Feed available to add to your home pages.  Special thanks to Matt from the St. Louis Park Town Team for suggesting it.

Adding the widget is easy, just go to Website Appearance -> Widgets after logging in.

Then click Add Home Page Widget and select Twitter Feed.

Enter the Twitter username you want to show a feed for, click Save, and you are done!

The Twitter feed for the username you entered now will display on your home page.

Hopefully this a widget that you can make use of.  If there are other widgets you would like to see added or if you have any suggestions or feedback, please leave a comment below or submit a support ticket.

Add Widgets to Any Page

You can now add widgets to any page of your website.  Similar to the home page, widgets can be added to the right side (or left if you have a left menu).  To start with, the sponsors widget is available to add to any page of your website and we will add additional widgets over the upcoming weeks.

To add a widget to all pages on your home page (home page widgets are still treated differently), just go to website appearance -> widgets after logging in.

You will now see separate lists for home page widgets and other widgets.  You can add, reorder, configure, and delete other widgets.

Click on the link to add an other page widget, configure it, and you are done!

Online Polls – Now with Images

You can now attach an image to any polls you create, allowing you to build even better polls for your website visitors to interact with.

Simply upload the image when creating or updating your poll.

The image will display above the poll widget on your home page (hopefully your poll is a little more exciting than mine).

Website visitors can view a larger version of the image.

The image will also display on the poll summary page.

Hopefully you like the enhancement to online polls.  If you have never created an online poll before, you find out more about creating polls.  If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know by posting a comment below or creating a support ticket.

Social Media Widget Available for Home Page

You can now add a social media widget to your home page to allow your fans to follow you on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

To add the widget just go to website appearance -> widgets, add a home page widget and select social media as the type of widget.

Enter the caption that you want to display, the url of the social media page, and icon of the social media provider.

That’s it, the widget will now display on your home page directing visitors to your site to the page you specified!

Right now you can pick from Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ but we can easily add other social media providers if there is another you would like to use.  Just let me know in the comments sections below or fill out a support request form.

Sponsors

Sponsors are now available for you to add to your team or organization.  Give publicity to those businesses or individuals that support you by adding them as sponsors to your site.  An example of a site displaying sponsors is the Sartell Apple Kids Duathlon.

You can add sponsors after logging in by going to manage -> sponsors.  From here you can manage sponsor information.  Each sponsor can have a title, url, and image.

After adding sponsors you can create sponsor widgets for your home page to display sponsors on the right-hand side.  You can have as many sponsor widgets as you want and for each you can specify the sponsors that should randomly display.

How sponsors appear as a widget on your home page.

You can also create a sponsor page by adding it as a special page to your menu at website appearance -> menu.
