Organization and Leagues – Team Enhancements

We recently completed a few enhancements for teams within a league or organization that should help improve the look of your site.

Player pictures default to the team logo if there isn’t one.

Now when players in your league or organization don’t have individual photos their profile will default to the team logo.  Same with stat and record book pages, all players without a photo will display the team logo instead.

Organization and League schedules in the admin now only show league-wide events by default

Some leagues and organizations had a lot of events on their schedule and loading all of those events on the schedule when in the admin took a long time.  We’ve made a change so that only league and organization wide events and games will display on the schedule by default.  This will allow the schedule page to load much more quickly.  To view games and events for individual teams just go to that team’s schedule.

Teams now have social media options

We’ve added social media to each team under leagues and organizations.  When adding information about a team you can specify their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram links.  The social media icons display on the team header for the team pages.

It also displays on the league/organization listing of all teams.

Post Game Results, News, and more to Facebook

We are excited to announce that you can now post line scores, box scores, game previews, game recaps, and a link to game photos to Facebook whenever you make an update.  This has been available for Twitter for a few years but now you can also automatically post to Facebook as well.  I know their are a number of teams, leagues, and organizations that have a Facebook page and this should make it even easier to communicate with your players, fans, and media.

Setting Facebook up within Atomic Leagues is easy and should only take a minute or two.  Just go to communication -> social media after logging in and then click on the Facebook link under the Available tab to enable Facebook.

This will take you to your Facebook account where you can authorize Atomic Leagues to post to pages on your behalf.  You will probably see a few different screens that will ask you to authorize Atomic Leagues to post to pages.

After authorizing Atomic Leagues to post to your Facebook account you will need to select the Facebook page (or your personal account by leaving the drop-down blank) that Atomic Leagues should post to.

Now whenever you write a news article you will have the option of also posting it to Facebook in addition to your team, league, or organization website.  Just keep the box checked and you are ready to go!

Thanks to Noam from the Gezer Bats (our first international team!) for suggesting I revisit Facebook and see if it could be added.  If you have questions or comments about Atomic Leagues and Facebook, we would love to hear them! Please post a comment below or let us know through the support form.

Social Media Widget Available for Home Page

You can now add a social media widget to your home page to allow your fans to follow you on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

To add the widget just go to website appearance -> widgets, add a home page widget and select social media as the type of widget.

Enter the caption that you want to display, the url of the social media page, and icon of the social media provider.

That’s it, the widget will now display on your home page directing visitors to your site to the page you specified!

Right now you can pick from Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ but we can easily add other social media providers if there is another you would like to use.  Just let me know in the comments sections below or fill out a support request form.

Share, Print, and Email any Team Page!

Your fans and players can now share, print, or email any page on your team website.  Each page has been enhanced to include sharing buttons on the title line to easily allow visitors to share your site with others.  This means that your pages can be shared on Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, through email, and many other websites with the click of a button.

This has the potential to vastly increase the number of visitors to your team site as your pages get shared with friends and family and they pass it on to others.
